Precision is preserved to six decimal places and trailing zeros are trimmed, so 1 mile comes back as exactly 1,609.344 metres and 5 km shows as 3.106856 miles. Common anchors worth remembering: 1 inch is exactly 2.54 cm, 1 foot is 0.3048 m, 1 mile is 1.609344 km, and 1 yard is 0.9144 m.
